Are you ready for NPI?
The National Provider Identifier (NPI) will replace the NCPDP Provider ID (formerly NABP). The mandatory date set by CMS for large health plans to begin using NPI is
May 23, 2007. Pharmacies will be required to submit the NPI for all HIPAA covered transactions. Some plans may begin to use the NPI prior to the cut-off date.
eRx is tracking plan requirement changes to support the move to NPI and we will have this information available for our customers.
If you have NOT already applied for your NPI, contact NPPES to apply.
Click here for the NPPES Website..
Notify NCPDP of your NPI once you receive it, this will prevent rejections from
those plans that use the NCPDP file to update.
